What Do Knitting, DNA and Scottish Reform Have in Common?

Why Outlander, of course! Here are three recent articles that might interest ye. Click on the titles (in bold) to read the articles. Enjoy!

Knitting Like It’s 1743 – Herself shared this lovely collection of Outlander-inspired knitting patterns on Facebook. Terry Dresbach and her team do such a beautiful job draping the body and creating costumes that enhance the story (and sometimes tell a story all their own)!

DNA Reveals the Truth About Bonnie Prince Charlie – This fascinating article will likely interest anyone who has caught the genealogy bug. The DNA of over 1,000 Scottish citizens has been recently analyzed and the results show a wider diversity of genetic origins than previously thought. Very interesting stuff! Science rules, ye ken?

Leaked Sony emails Show TV Chiefs Discussing Political “Importance” of Outlander to Indyref – This is a riveting article about an apparent meeting between British PM, John Cameron, and representatives from Sony prior to the Independence Referendum in Scotland last fall. Apparently, no one in the know knows anything – ahhh…politics. Read and decide for yourself!

Fantastic Dedication to Our Beloved Outlander Books

Three great articles released this week, demonstrate the fantastic dedication from the writers, actors, producers, Herself and everyone behind the scenes of the Starz series. I am deeply grateful for the commitment everyone has made, fans included, to bring Outlander to the screen.

No, Jamie Doesn’t Have Ringworm

The Outlander Anatomy students are wonderful! I get all sorts of fantastic questions and funny anecdotes. It’s such a pleasure to be part of this passionate community!

One comment from a student on Facebook has tickled my funny bone all week! She wondered if Jamie had ringworm in Episode 109, The Reckoning.

It’s a great and creative comment and clearly, our student knows it isn’t ringworm. But, this presents a great opportunity to learn more about the body! Ringworm is a fungal infection and has a round, whorl shape. The patches are red and scaly and the outer rim is often more red than the center so it’s easy to understand why this could be mistaken for ringworm at first glance.

But, no, it’s the gunshot wound scar that you’ll find referenced in Anatomy Lesson 19 and Anatomy Lesson 3.
